Stay-In Home Style Saturdays: Cozy Decorating & Relaxation Tips

Hi dear friends, from me and smiling Jack! How are you? So much can change in a week. As I wrote previously, “staying in is the new going out,” and this year that idea has taken on a whole new meaning. We’ve settled into our home, doing our best to stay calm and stay healthy. With Seattle at the center of the recent health crisis in the U.S., life shifted quickly for many of us.

My short-lived empty nester chapter ended sooner than I expected — two of our three kids are back home. Courtney is choosing to stay in our lower level for a while to save money, and Luke returned when his college closed and moved to remote classes for the remainder of the term. He can’t remain in the dorms, so he’ll be with us until fall. Kylee is safe at home with her husband Lance, which is a relief.

Having my kids under our roof again brings comfort, even if daily life looks different for now. We’re adapting, praying for protection, and trusting we’ll be okay despite how strange and frenzied the world may feel. I know many are facing far more difficult circumstances, and our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected.

I’m deeply grateful for the support you give our family through this small business and for the many ways you allow us to continue our work. Your encouragement matters, especially during uncertain times.

As someone who loves being at home, I appreciate the chance to slow down and spend more time indoors. That said, I don’t like the unsettling circumstances outside our door. It’s hard to accept that people we care about are sick and that so many lives are being impacted. Still, I choose to focus on what I can control inside our home.

Even amid uncertainty, I want to be a gatekeeper for our home. More than ever, I want our house to be a place of peace, joy, faith, beauty, comfort, and wellness. I’m focusing on the privilege of making our home a sanctuary in every sense of the word. I’m honored to keep inspiring you to do the same.

We’ll aim to stay positive, uplifting, and encouraging while remaining honest about the difficulty of this season. The world feels unstable right now, but as a community we can continue to support one another and bring moments of beauty, joy, and hope into the places we call home.

I’ve planned some simple, comforting projects and ideas to share, so let’s stick together and look for small ways to brighten our days.

I hope you enjoy the inspiration in this week’s Home Style Saturdays!
