Spring Prep Ideas to Refresh Your Home and Wardrobe

Spring Mantel

We’re in that awkward stretch where I desperately want it to be spring, but it just snowed again and everything still feels wintry. Realistically, winter isn’t over yet, but dreaming about spring is free, right? Imagine the snow melting, crocuses pushing through the soil, birds filling the yard with song, and the sun finally warm enough to open the windows and breathe in fresh air without freezing.

Doesn’t that sound lovely?

I figure if I gather a few supplies now, I’ll be ready the moment the urge to refresh hits. To get myself motivated, I pulled together a few favorite spring projects and decorating ideas from last year that are perfect for getting into the spring spirit.

Fairy Garden

If you’ve visited here before, you might recognize this project, but I still love it. Last summer I made a little tabletop fairy garden and became completely obsessed. I already have plans to make many more this spring—so many that my neighbors might start calling me the fairy garden lady. These tiny landscapes are fun, creative, and easy to adapt. They make charming displays for tabletops, shelves, or as gifts.

Decorating with Spring Eggs

This is one of the easiest spring projects and perfect for Easter. Pick up plastic or decorative eggs from a craft store, gather a few bare branches from the yard—or buy faux branches if you prefer—and arrange them in a clear glass hurricane or vase. The contrast between the delicate eggs and natural branches instantly says spring. It’s simple to customize with color, texture, and container style to suit your home.

Spring Tables

While gathering spring accents, don’t forget the table. Little nests, clusters of faux moss, small bunnies, pastel eggs, and fresh or faux blooms all create an inviting spring tablescape. Mix these elements with simple linens and seasonal dishes for a cheerful display that’s perfect for breakfasts, brunches, or casual dinners throughout the season.

Spring is also a great time to refresh soft goods. New throw pillows are an easy, cost-effective way to change the mood of a room. I admit I’m a bit of a pillow fanatic, so expect to see more seasonal cushions in my spaces. Swapping covers for lighter colors, floral patterns, or natural textures instantly brightens a living room or bedroom.

And of course, the mantel deserves some attention too. A few seasonal accents—greenery, candles, small nests, or a framed spring print—can make the fireplace area feel renewed and welcoming.

Bonus peek: if you missed my updates on social media, here’s a sneak preview of a project I’m currently working on at home. It’s far from finished, but every long project starts with a single step.
