Handmade Wall Art Ideas to Transform Your Space

One of the things I’m most excited about once the larger construction projects around our house are finished is focusing on smaller creative efforts that bring personality and warm memories into our freshly updated rooms.

Most of our walls will have been repainted within the last year or two — that previous SWINE color never inspired me. Having newly painted walls as a starting point makes me eager to personalize our space with accessories, furniture, family photos and keepsakes. I’m genuinely excited for this next phase!

My approach to home decor is simple: when life inspires home, our home inspires life. Adding handmade accessories and art gives our rooms a sense of personal history and meaning. A home should reflect who we are and the life we live.

I love discovering bloggers who celebrate authentic, creative approaches to making a home feel personal. I’ve featured the work of Jamin and Ashley Mills (The Handmade Home) many times because their style and projects always inspire me. Their ideas for curtains, play spaces, kitchens and chalkboard projects are endlessly charming, and their fresh, handmade aesthetic is exactly what I look for when collecting ideas for our own house.

Their blog truly sparks creativity.

The way they display family photos in painted, handmade frames and arrange other crafted items on their walls is a big part of why I love their work. So when I learned they compiled an ebook called Handmade Walls featuring 22 projects you can try at home, I was thrilled.
