Do you like rugs in your kitchen? I do. Rugs bring warmth, texture, pattern and color to a room, and I love them in kitchens — even though this is a high-traffic area that can get messy. Our kitchen is small, has an exterior door, and our dogs track things in, so finding a rug that looks good and holds up well is important. Recently I found a new rug for the space that I absolutely love.
The best part: it’s washable. It’s a Ruggable rug, which makes it ideal for busy areas. These rugs are reasonably priced and available in many colors and patterns, making them a simple way to refresh a room for spring or any season.
You can also find Ruggable rugs through a number of retailers and marketplaces.

We already have a larger Ruggable rug in our lower level and have been very happy with it. That room also has an exterior door, so having a machine-washable rug there has been especially practical. The system includes a rug pad that grips the cover and helps keep it in place — similar to a Velcro-style attachment — so the rug doesn’t shift when chairs move or people walk across it.
One great feature is that you can buy replacement covers separately. If you want a new look, you can keep the same base and swap the cover for a different design without replacing the whole rug.

Ruggable covers are generally thinner than many traditional rugs, which makes them easy to vacuum and handle. They still feel soft underfoot, and the brand has introduced plush options as well. I haven’t tried the plush styles personally, but the standard covers we own clean well and look great after washing.
I’ve laundered these covers in my washing machine and dried them in the dryer with no issues — they’ve come out looking fresh and undamaged, which is exactly what I want for a busy household.
I value simplicity in my home, so products that make life easier are a win for me. A washable, attractive rug is one small change that reduces stress and keeps our kitchen looking tidy.
If you’ve been considering a Ruggable rug, I recommend giving one a try. They’ve worked well for our family — Jack and Lily give their approval, too.

Disclosure: I was gifted this rug to share on Instagram, but this blog post is not sponsored and these thoughts are my own. I get a lot of questions about these rugs, so I wanted to share my experience here.
Below I’ll share some favorite designs — there are so many great styles to choose from.
