Cozy Fall Nesting Party Ideas for 2011 Celebration

It Is Time for Fall Decorating!

My quick and easy fall mantel

It’s that season again—time to let go of summer and welcome fall into our homes.

I know some of you are still enjoying warm days or live where the leaves don’t change color.

Here at The Inspired Room, fall is more a feeling than a weather report. It’s the moment we shift toward comfort and coziness, slowly making our spaces warm and inviting.

You don’t have to transform everything at once—seasons unfold gradually.

Today I realized I hadn’t started my fall nesting yet and needed a small step toward the season.

My home had felt a little chaotic lately because we’ve had to block off part of the house to help potty train Jack the puppy. The training was worth it—he’s almost fully trained—but it left the house feeling disordered, and I hadn’t felt much like decorating.

Even with the mess and the baby gate in the way, I knew I wanted to return to what I love: puttingtering around the house and preparing for fall.

So this afternoon I took down my summer mantel, dusted things off, and gathered a few items that felt autumnal. I used a dark-framed mirror, some pumpkin string lights I bought years ago, a mason jar filled with small red apples and clothespins, a couple of pretty books, candles, a basket, and a few other bits and pieces.

I’m not a fancy crafter and I don’t always have time for elaborate projects. This time I skipped the glue gun and simply arranged things I already had until the mantel felt right—simple, relaxed, and cozy.

I didn’t try to redo the whole room in one afternoon. I focused on one small area—the mantel—and finished it quickly. It’s easy to add or rearrange pieces later, but just having a touch of fall made a big difference.

Seeing those little changes reminded me that soon I’ll be sipping hot cider and reading by the fire. That simple thought felt comforting and satisfying.
