Merry Christmas, from our house to yours!
This week I’ve been focusing on finishing my Christmas to‑do list, but mostly I’ve enjoyed puttering around the house. That’s my favorite way to spend time. Last week I bought a new dresser, and this week I finally organized my closet for the first time since we moved in. I’ll share room updates and progress around the house after the holidays, but it already feels so good to be more organized.

Jack is dreaming of a white Christmas — I’d love that too. It’s unlikely, but I’ve been finishing errands early just in case a flurry of snow means we stay home and sit by the fire. We’re hosting family on Christmas Day, so the house will be full of guests. I’m looking forward to it!
Yesterday I stopped at Costco to stock up on essentials and discovered The Inspired Room on their book table. It was so exciting to see it there! If you’re in the Seattle area, check your local Costco — the book was priced well. I’m hoping demand will encourage them to carry it in more stores.
I also spotted the book at Whole Foods, Barnes & Noble, and again at the Seattle Amazon retail store on their “highly rated” display. It’s surreal and really rewarding to see it appearing in so many places.

These two pups look cute and fluffy, but don’t let Jack and Lily’s innocent faces fool you. It wouldn’t be Christmas here without the annual unraveling of the tree. Every year I think I might finally trust them around the decorations, and every year, when I’m not looking, they act like puppies and take the animal ornaments off the tree before we get to the holiday. Their mischief keeps the season lively, even if I wish they’d leave the ornaments alone.
I’d love to see your home at Christmas. If you have a moment over the next few days, please upload a photo or two to Home Love Stories — I enjoy seeing how others decorate and celebrate.

This year has been full of surprises, home projects, and meaningful changes for our family. I’m planning a year‑end recap and I’ll share my goals for the house and the blog in 2016. I’m excited about what’s ahead, but for now I’m getting back to wrapping presents and finishing up holiday tasks.
I hope you have a wonderful Christmas!
