Hi friends, Courtney here (Melissa’s daughter)! I’m so happy to welcome you to our new home. After years of renting, my husband, our son, and I have just moved into a house we share with my parents-in-law.
A few years ago my parents-in-law suggested the idea of living together, and it immediately felt right. We stayed in our townhouse while taking our time to find a house that would work well for multigenerational living.
Enter….The Lake House.

This home is exactly what we hoped for and even better. The house has a basement apartment with a separate entrance where my parents-in-law live, while my husband, our son, and I occupy the main living area.
It feels like a true gift to have three generations under one roof.

The view from our home was an unexpected blessing. My husband and I used to daydream about living near a lake, but we never expected to wake up to this. After years of rentals overlooking parking lots or tall buildings, seeing the lake, mountains, trees, and wide open sky from our windows feels deeply peaceful. We are so grateful.

We’re excited to begin this new chapter of homeownership. We plan to stay here for a long time—a family home we can settle into and gradually make our own.

While we don’t expect major renovations—we already love much of the house—we do have long-term ideas and plenty of small projects ahead. Making a home cozy and personal is one of my favorite things, and the idea of doing that in a place we own and plan to stay in is so exciting.

This is just a first look at our lake house — a little peek into our new life. There’s so much more to share, and I can’t wait to take you along as we shape this house into our home.
I’ll be sharing behind-the-scenes updates as we discover our lake house style and work on decorating and small projects.
I’ve already begun sharing extra peeks and design ideas with a community of fellow home enthusiasts, and I’m looking forward to feedback and inspiration as we make this space our own.
