Of all the toxin-free cleaners I’ve tried, it’s the most effective and the only one I consistently use to keep our home clean.
Below are 10 practical cleaning recipes and uses for THHC, including my favorite way to give your cleaning a festive, Christmas scent.
All-Purpose Cleaner:
This is my everyday cleaner for most surfaces. For the holidays, add Christmas Spirit essential oil for a festive scent without toxic ingredients.
In a spray bottle, combine:
– 1 capful Thieves Household Cleaner
– Several drops Christmas Spirit essential oil (optional)
– 2–3 cups water
Spray liberally and wipe with a damp cloth.
Prevent Shower Soap Scum
Keep water spots and soap residue at bay with this simple spray.
In a spray bottle, combine:
– ½ capful Thieves Household Cleaner
– 10 drops Tea Tree essential oil
– 4 cups water
Spray shower walls and doors daily and squeegee off excess.
Couch and Upholstery Cleaner:
Refresh fabric surfaces and remove odors with this powder cleaner.
Combine 1 capful Thieves Household Cleaner with 1–2 cups baking soda and mix well. Let sit 24 hours to combine fully. Add 5 drops Lavender essential oil for extra freshness. Lightly sprinkle over furniture and wait 1 hour. Work the mixture into the fabric with a stiff brush using back-and-forth motions, then vacuum up the residue.
Stovetop Degreaser:
For light to heavy grease, use this quick degreasing mix.
In a spray bottle or bowl, mix:
– 1 capful Thieves Household Cleaner
– 1 drop Pine essential oil (optional)
– 1 cup water
Apply with a cloth to lift buildup; when grease is gone, wipe clean with a damp cloth.
Shine and Polish Hardwood Floors:
Use this gentle solution to clean and add subtle shine to wood floors.
In a bucket mix:
– 4 cups water
– 2 tablespoons white vinegar
– 2 tablespoons grape seed oil
– 1 capful Thieves Household Cleaner
Mop floors as usual.
Wood Furniture:
For regular cleaning, add 1 capful Thieves Household Cleaner to 2 cups water and wipe down wood furniture to remove dust and grime.
Sinks and Counters:
For everyday cleaning, mix 1 capful Thieves Household Cleaner with 2 cups water in a spray bottle. Spray surfaces and wipe clean.
Oven Scrub:
A simple method for loosening baked-on grime.
In a spray bottle or bowl, combine:
– ½ cup white vinegar
– ½ capful Thieves Household Cleaner
– ½ tablespoon dish soap
– 2 drops Thieves essential oil blend (optional)
Avoid the heating elements. Sprinkle baking soda liberally over the oven bottom, then spray with the vinegar and cleaner mix. Let sit until bubbling stops, scrub stubborn spots with a sponge, then wipe and rinse thoroughly to remove all baking soda.
Stainless Steel Cleaner:
Restore shine and remove fingerprints with this oil-based cleaner.
In a spray bottle or small container, mix:
– ½ capful Thieves Household Cleaner
– 2 tablespoons olive oil
Buff the mixture into stainless steel with a damp, lint-free cloth and wipe off excess with a dry cloth.
DIY Soft Scrub:
A paste that works well on sinks, tubs, toilets, and more.
In a jar, mix:
– ½ cup baking soda
– 3 capfuls Thieves Household Cleaner
– 10 drops lemon essential oil (to help cut sticky residue)
Use the paste with a sponge or brush to scrub surfaces, then rinse.
