Love the Home You Have: Tips from Better Homes & Gardens

Love the Home You Have Book - The Inspired Room - Melissa Michaels
Ta da!

I’m thrilled to share that my book is finally real — it has a cover, a title, and a voice I’ve lived for years. Writing this book has been a long, heartfelt process. It grew out of everyday moments and lessons learned in my own home, and now those stories and reflections are gathered into a single place.

Inside the pages I share the awkward, the funny, and the meaningful house stories that shaped how I view home life. I write about finding contentment with what I already have, embracing gratitude, and learning to pour love into the home and life that surround you. These are practical, personal reflections meant to encourage anyone who wants to make their home more intentional and welcoming.

Seeing the finished cover made this whole experience feel wonderfully real. The book is scheduled for release on March 31, but it’s available for pre-order now. Pre-ordering helps authors and publishers plan, and if you’re interested in getting your copy early, you can reserve it ahead of the release.

I’m also finishing the second book in this series (I have eight planned in total), which has been a joy to write. At the same time I’m already working on a third book: a large, full-color photo volume filled with ideas, practical tips, and encouragement for creating a welcoming home. That book will be timed for fall nesting next year. It’s been a whirlwind, and I still pinch myself that these projects are actually happening.

Better Homes & Gardens kitchen photo shoot

On a related high note, last year my kitchen was photographed for Better Homes & Gardens. I nearly forgot about the shoot, so it was a wonderful surprise when the editor let me know my kitchen will appear in this November’s issue. I’m honored and excited to see the feature.

Better Homes & Gardens invited me to share how I truly “love the home I have” by featuring several projects we’ve completed around our house. It’s a wonderful opportunity to show real, approachable ways to make a home feel loved and lived-in, and I’m grateful for the chance to contribute.

You can also find my post on the Better Homes & Gardens Style Spotters blog, where I highlight five projects from The Inspired Room. The post will be live soon, and if you spot the magazine on the newsstand or in its digital edition, I’d love to hear what you think. The digital issue even includes an interview about my kitchen for those who prefer that format.

Thank you so much for your continued support and patience as I juggle writing and everything else life brings. Your encouragement means the world to me — truly.
