We walk through five straightforward rug rules to help you choose the right size, shape, and style, and decide what to do when rooms sit next to one another. We also chat with Jenni Pulos from Flipping Out, who has weathered renovations and reality-TV drama while keeping Jeff Lewis grounded. She offers practical advice and even trades a rhyme with Sherry. What’s New

- Greenville, SC was stunning — the photo above is one of many I took while exploring the city. It felt magical, and I kept sharing pictures to prove it.
- If you want more information about the Haven Conference, there’s another event planned for next summer. We hope to attend; in the meantime, search #havenconf on Instagram to see photos from this year’s conference.
What’s Not
- I’m not a fig expert, so my ficus-related notes came from general sources and guides with photos that help identify different fig species and varieties.
Take Five: Rugs
- Below are images of a few rooms in our house (office, dining room, and living room) we referenced while discussing rug sizes, colors, shapes, and placement.

- An easy trick is layering a larger, low-pile or woven rug beneath a smaller rug to make the overall floor anchor feel more substantial. This can save a smaller rug from looking undersized in a large room.
Jenni Pulos
- If you’re not watching Flipping Out, it’s worth checking out for design drama and creative personalities. New episodes air regularly on Bravo.
- Jenni’s book and other projects showcase her candid humor and creative side; she also records music for kids and shares fun, personal work outside of the show.
- If you’re in the mood for our old rap interludes, we’ve pulled together a few memorable musical bits from previous posts and episodes for a laugh.
We’re Digging
- A saw and stand setup recommended by fellow DIY bloggers sparked some serious tool envy; specialty stands and saw accessories can make a big difference in accuracy and safety.
- If you haven’t seen Bad Moms yet, the trailer and early buzz might convince you to catch it for a laugh and a little chaos.
