Winter Wellness Station: How to Store and Organize Essential Oils

How I use essential oils

I love decorating my home. But more than aesthetics, I prioritize creating a healthy, happy environment. Whenever possible I combine beauty with wellness. That’s why I set up a winter wellness station—both an inspiring display and a convenient hub for my family’s daily needs.

We use our essential oils every single day. They’ve become our go-to for many small remedies and daily rituals. More than a scent, they help support everyday wellness in practical and comforting ways.

Get started with Young Living by ordering whatever you’d like—no kit required—and you’ll be invited to join my Dwell Well Collective education group.

A few years ago I stopped bringing products with toxic ingredients into our home. I used to rely on conventional cleaners, air fresheners, and heavily perfumed products to clean, scent, and refresh our space. Over time I learned those products often carried harmful chemicals that affected our health.

I used to put strong cleaners on dishes and surfaces, use fragranced disinfectants on hands and counters, and add scented products everywhere. Sometimes the fumes would make me choke or cough; other times I would assume the perfumed smell was harmless. Either way, I was unknowingly introducing toxins into our home.

As I learned more about the negative effects these products can have, I replaced them with plant-based, truly clean alternatives and pure essential oils. That shift made a noticeable difference in how our home felt and how our family experienced everyday health.

Most of the oils and many household items I use are from Young Living, a company I’ve trusted for several years. After using their products and learning about their sourcing and quality standards, I feel confident they’re a better fit for our family. Beyond oils, I use their skincare, supplements, haircare, and household products—many of which have become staples in our home.

I used to adore seasonal scented candles, holiday hand soaps, and perfumed lotions—pumpkin spice and holiday scents included. They felt cozy and festive, but I later realized those fragrances weren’t always benign. What I thought was normal—frequent sniffles, tiredness, or seasonal low energy—was often linked to what I brought into our home and onto our bodies.

Why I stopped using many conventional scented products

At first I used Thieves oil mainly because it smells like the holidays. But I quickly discovered essential oils are concentrated plant extracts that can do much more than scent a room. Once I began learning how to use them, oils became a natural solution for many household and wellness needs.

Over time, essential oils have become a reliable part of our daily routine. They support immunity, mood, sleep, skin, digestion, and more. We keep them within easy reach and use them consistently because they work well for our family.

Essential oils are now our first line of defense—a versatile, natural part of our household toolkit. We rely on them for everyday needs and little emergencies, and they’ve simplified how we manage health and home care.

Who knew I’d become such a plant person? Our family focuses on living well: eating well, avoiding junk ingredients, reading labels, and choosing products from companies we trust. Essential oils and simple natural routines help support that lifestyle.

My wellness station is in the guest room closet, which keeps supplies organized and central. I also use the guest room as a retreat and writing space, so having oils nearby is both practical and calming. I often step in just to breathe in the scents or to make rollers, sprays, and natural remedies. It’s enjoyable and saves money compared with buying disposable products.

You don’t need dozens of oils to start—there are a few go-to oils that cover many common needs.

Some of the oils on my shelves came as bonuses from monthly wellness orders, some are backups for favorites I don’t want to run out of, and others I keep to make gifts or DIY projects. I also enjoy sharing recipes and ideas in a private group where members swap tips and inspiration.

When I began focusing on daily health and supporting my immune system, I started feeling better than I had in years. That doesn’t mean oils are a cure-all—there are no guarantees—but they’ve helped reduce how often I feel run-down. I still manage chronic issues and remain mindful of environmental factors, but overall I experience more energy and resilience now.

Feeling well has allowed me to run a business, stay present with family, and enjoy life in ways I couldn’t before. Those personal changes inspired me to help others create healthier homes too.

When I first received my oils, I didn’t know how to use them or why they’d be part of daily life. I let an account go inactive because I didn’t understand the possibilities. That changed once I learned proper uses and benefits. Now, I enjoy helping friends get started so their oils don’t sit unused while toxic products remain on counters.

If you’re unsure where to begin or think a wellness station sounds excessive, I get it—and I’m happy to help. Whether you’re just curious or you have oils gathering dust, guidance can make them easy and useful in everyday life.
