Are you baking more these days? With summer beginning, maybe the pace will change, but many of us have found more time for cooking and baking. Recently I shared my gluten-free vegan chocolate chip cookie recipe, and today I want to share a long-loved gluten-free banana bread. I’ve made this loaf for years and switched to gluten-free after a health diagnosis by simply substituting the flour. It’s delicious either way.

I often use a 1:1 gluten-free flour blend and it works really well, but this recipe adapts easily to other flours if you prefer grain-free or different mixes. If you try another flour, I’d love to hear how it turned out.

Simple rituals and small comforts make home life brighter. Lately I’ve focused on creating an environment and daily routines that inspire. The familiar, comforting scent of banana bread baking is one of those small joys that lifts the mood at home.

Gluten-Free Chocolate Chip Banana Bread Recipe
Ingredients:
– 1 cup white sugar (or substitute applesauce for a lower-sugar option)
– 1/4 cup butter, softened
– 2 very ripe bananas, mashed (they should be brown and soft)
– 1 egg, beaten
– 1 1/2 cups flour (use a 1:1 gluten-free flour blend if making gluten-free)
– 1 tsp baking soda
– 1/4 tsp salt
Optional: chopped walnuts and dark chocolate chips
Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C). Grease a standard loaf pan.
2. Cream the softened butter with the sugar (or applesauce) until smooth. Stir in the mashed bananas and beaten egg until well combined.
3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Stir in chopped walnuts if desired.
4. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top if you like a chocolate-topped loaf.
5. Bake at 325°F for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow the bread to cool slightly before slicing.
Enjoy warm slices with butter or your favorite spread. YUM.

Food and small traditions are ways we nourish our home, body, and spirit. Baking a simple loaf can brighten a day and create comforting moments for family and friends.
Have you baked anything delicious lately? I hope you try this recipe and enjoy it—let me know how it turns out!
