My favorite projects are the small updates that make everyday life more enjoyable. I love focusing on thoughtful, practical details that improve daily routines and bring a little extra joy to a home.

During our remodel I paid attention to how things would feel and function — from drawer pulls that are smooth and sturdy to drawers that open effortlessly. A well-organized kitchen reduces daily stress, and I’m happiest when even the inside of a cabinet or drawer looks cared for.

I have to admit I was unexpectedly thrilled to line my kitchen drawers with patterned paper. It might sound silly, but small upgrades like this really delight me. Lining drawers is a simple, affordable way to protect surfaces, make cleanup easier, and add a favorite color or pattern where you see it all the time.

I found myself opening and closing the drawer repeatedly just to enjoy the pretty pattern. Kitchen drawers get used constantly, so making them attractive inside feels worthwhile. Even in a new kitchen, liners extend the life of drawers and make maintenance simpler.

I started with the drawer that holds our dishes since it sees the most use. I chose a subtle charcoal gray striped paper that provides a calm, elegant backdrop for plates and bowls. The installation was straightforward and fast.

The paper I used could be ordered custom sized, which meant no cutting and a perfect fit. It’s self-adhesive: you peel off the backing a bit at a time, press the paper in place, and smooth it to avoid bubbles. The small squeegee tool included made it easy to keep the surface wrinkle-free.

Now the drawer looks and feels refreshed. If you want to brighten your drawers, shelves, or cabinets this season, a quality shelf paper is an easy way to lift the everyday.

The charcoal stripe I used is a soft, neutral pattern that complements most dishware and hides light wear. A lined drawer is both practical and pretty — it protects the drawer’s surface and gives a pleasing backdrop to what you store.
