Kylee here with an update on our primary bedroom and attic suite. If you’ve been following me on Instagram, you know this room has been a work in progress since we moved in last summer — you can catch the progress in my saved bedroom highlights.
We finally installed beautiful hardwood floors and found the coziest bedding, so I wanted to share a sneak peek of how the bedroom is coming together.
Here was the room when we first moved in:

The space was a blank slate with white walls and old gray carpet. From the start we wanted the room to feel warmer and more inviting with a thoughtful paint color. I’m not a fan of wall-to-wall carpeting—my allergies object—so we planned to replace it with solid wood flooring that would coordinate with the original floors throughout our home.

We started painting right away, but the flooring took longer than expected. A few weeks ago the hardwood finally went in and it completely transformed the room — it feels so much cozier now.

There are still a few finishing touches I want to add — a rug, some artwork, and bedside reading sconces are on my list — but the room already feels so much more like ours. I expect it to evolve over time, but after months of feeling like we were “squatting” until the floors arrived, it’s so nice to finally relax in a cozy space of our own.
I’ll share more details, angles, and before-and-afters in the coming weeks. Today I wanted to give you a preview of the new flooring and bedding. I hope you enjoy progress posts as much as I do!

We debated bedding for months, trying several options before deciding on something timeless. We’ve always favored patterned, colorful sheets, but nothing felt quite right. Ultimately, all-white bedding won us over — it creates a clean, hotel-like feel that’s fresh and calming.
Good bedding is worth the investment since we spend so much time in it. We’d heard great things about Brooklinen, so we waited for their sale and are so glad we did.
We chose the Luxe Hardcore Bundle, which includes a flat sheet, fitted sheet, two sets of pillowcases, and a duvet cover. The bundle offered savings and flexibility to mix and match styles and patterns, though in the end we stuck with solid white. These sheets are the softest, most buttery-feeling ones we’ve owned — my husband compares sleeping in them to floating on clouds, and I completely agree.
Beyond the fabric, it’s the thoughtful details that stand out. The sheets come labeled with short-side and long-side tags, which is especially helpful on a king bed. The duvet cover has corner ties to keep the insert in place, and the pillowcases use envelope closures for a neat, finished look.

Leo approves as well, which matters to us — we bought a king-sized bed after he joined the family so there’s room for all of us.
If you’re in the market for new bedding, I highly recommend Brooklinen. We’re very happy with the quality and the small design touches that make everyday life easier.
