Refreshing Your Space: Simple Ways to Recharge and Rejuvenate

Some days I need a break from routine — a day to step out and look for beautiful things.

I don’t always buy what I find. Often I simply look, touch, and take it all in. Occasionally I do bring something home, but mostly I enjoy the experience: picking up objects, feeling textures, and noticing small details.

I just need to linger for a while.

These excursions are a quiet ritual that recharge me. They refresh my creativity and restore my energy in a way that nothing else seems to.

This past Saturday my girls and I decided to have one of those days together, and it turned out to be wonderful.

We set out that morning with no strict plan, simply in search of pretty things and a relaxed pace.

We enjoyed a delicious lunch, wandered through charming shops, breathed in the scent of candles, and touched fabrics and treasures along the way. Later we sat down for foamy coffee, shared stories, and let our imaginations wander.

It was one of those afternoons that stayed with me — simple, warm, and full of small pleasures.

I love spending time with those girls.

You can see my daughters’ weekend posts here and here.

When was the last time you took a day or a weekend just to recharge? How did you spend it?

One of the shops we visited and photographed that day is Modern Mercantile in Poulsbo, Washington.
