How to Make a Wreath Chandelier
This project was created in partnership with The Home Depot. As always, the projects and ideas are mine!
Want to create something festive and eye-catching for your front porch or home this Christmas? A boxwood wreath chandelier is an easy, dramatic project that transforms a porch into a cozy, magical entry. Whether you make a single wreath or stack two for extra impact, the result is charming both day and night.

For this project you’ll need one or two wreaths. We used a 30-inch and a 24-inch boxwood wreath to build a double-decker chandelier, but a single wreath looks beautiful too. Choose the size that fits your porch ceiling height and the scale you want.

You’ll also need rope, ribbon, or chain to hang the wreath. We picked a thicker rope for a rustic, nautical feel, but any sturdy material that supports the wreath will work. If you prefer a polished look, use decorative ribbon or a metal chain.

Install heavy-duty hooks where you want the wreath to hang. Choose hooks rated to support the combined weight of your wreath(s) and any lights or decorations you add. In many installations the hooks are hidden by the wreath, so they don’t need to be fancy unless they will be visible.

Have a helper hold the wreath while you decide the hanging height. You don’t need an existing porch light for this project — the wreath looks lovely on its own and even better with lights added. If your porch ceiling is low, opt for a single wreath hung closer to the ceiling. For higher ceilings, consider the double-tier look for more drama.
Once you choose the desired height, estimate how much rope you’ll need. Leave extra length so you can make adjustments after hanging.

To attach the rope, loop it around the wire frame on the back of the wreath and tie a secure knot. Leave a few inches of excess rope in case you need to adjust the height later.

Tie the other end of the same rope a few inches over to create a “handle” you can lift. With only one rope the wreath will hang unevenly, so repeat this step on the opposite side of the wreath.

Add a second rope on the opposite side of the wreath and knot it the same way, creating two handles similar to purse or shopping bag handles. These paired handles make the wreath stable when hanging.

Hang each handle on its own hook with the wreath upside down. Adjust the knots or slide the rope on the hooks until the wreath hangs level. Small tweaks will balance the wreath perfectly.

When the first wreath is positioned to your liking, you can stop there or add a second wreath for more impact. Repeat the same rope-and-knot technique for the second wreath, making sure the rope is long enough to drop through and hang beneath the first wreath.

Loop the ropes of the second wreath over the same hooks and adjust until both wreaths hang neatly and evenly. Trim any excess rope once you are satisfied with the look and balance.
If you want to add lights, use slim, battery-operated LED string lights with a timer so they switch on and off automatically. Wrap the lights around the wreaths for a warm, glowing effect without the need for hardwiring.
This is a simple, fun project that makes a bold statement on a Christmas porch. A wreath chandelier also works beautifully for weddings or special events where you want an elegant, whimsical touch.

It looks beautiful in daylight and absolutely magical at night when lit. The wreath chandelier creates an inviting, fairytale-like entrance that also suits parties and celebrations.
