Love the Home You Have: Ideas from Better Homes & Gardens

Love the Home You Have Book - The Inspired Room - Melissa Michaels
Ta da!

I can hardly believe it — my book actually looks like a real book. It has a cover, it’s so cute, and holding that image in my hands made everything feel wonderfully real. Writing this book has been the culmination of a long season of life and learning; in many ways it’s been a work in progress for as long as I can remember because the ideas and experiences in it come from lived moments I didn’t know would one day become a book.

Inside these pages I share house stories — the awkward, the funny, and the lessons learned — along with my heart for home. I write about finding contentment with what I have, how gratitude shapes the way I live, and the small, intentional ways I pour love into the home and the life right in front of me. It’s a collection of personal reflections, practical encouragement, and the everyday inspirations that remind me to appreciate the home I already have.

The book is scheduled for release on March 31, though pre-orders are available now. I know how helpful early orders are in the book world, so if you’re inclined to pre-order, that’s an option. The idea that these words I’ve written will be published still makes me giddy — I’m so grateful for the chance to share them.

I’m also finishing up my second book (of eight planned), which has been a joy to write. I can’t wait to share more as soon as I’m able. At the same time, I’m already working on the third book, which will be a full-color photo book filled with ideas, tips, and encouragement for home life. It’s scheduled for release next fall — perfect timing for fall nesting — and it feels a little surreal that all of this is actually coming together.

Better Homes & Gardens kitchen photo shoot

In another pinch-me moment, you might remember my kitchen was photographed for Better Homes & Gardens. I nearly forgot about that shoot, but recently an editor contacted me with wonderful news: my kitchen will be featured in the November issue of Better Homes & Gardens. I’m thrilled and humbled to see our space included.

Better Homes & Gardens also invited me to share projects that illustrate how I “love the home I have,” and they featured a few projects from around our house. It’s such an honor to be included and to collaborate with a magazine I admire; the team has been so kind throughout the process.

I wrote a post for the magazine’s Style Spotters column that will go live soon, and if the issue lands in stores or your mailbox, I’d love to hear what you think. I haven’t held the magazine yet myself, so I’m looking forward to seeing it in print. For those with the digital edition, there may even be an interview about the kitchen — if you catch that, enjoy the behind-the-scenes peek!

Thank you so much for your support and for your patience when my posting gets slow. I’m juggling a lot, and I appreciate your encouragement more than you know. You all are the best.
