Hey, lovelies! I hope your week is going well. We just wrapped up summer vacation and today is the first day back to school at our house, which means I’m officially switching into full fall nesting mode. One of my favorite things about autumn is the cozy, comforting scents that fill the air.
Scent has a powerful way of tying us to memories: the crisp freshness after a fall rain, a walk through the woods, the crackle of a fire on a chilly evening, or a warm mug of cider held between cold hands. Bringing those aromas into our home feels natural to me, and it’s an easy way to make everyday moments feel more inviting.

Quote from my NYT Bestselling Book: Love the Home You Have
One simple way I keep our home smelling fresh—without candles or chemical air fresheners—is by diffusing seasonal blends of essential oils. I prefer high-quality oils for consistent results, and diffusing is an easy, daily practice that makes our house feel warm and welcoming. If you want specifics about the products I use, feel free to ask.
Using an oil diffuser is part of my morning routine year-round. Turning it on helps set the tone for the day; I often choose scents to inspire quiet time, focus for work, or energy for cleaning. This small ritual of selecting oils and starting the diffuser has helped me build better habits and focus—right up there with making the bed as a way to kick off the day.
I couldn’t wait for fall to arrive, so I switched to autumn-inspired scents a week or two early. After enjoying fresh, fruity, and floral aromas all summer, I’m now head over heels for a cozy fall nesting blend that many visitors have commented on.
Below is the recipe I’ve been using. It’s simple, natural, and perfect for creating a warm, seasonal atmosphere. I’ve also included an image you can pin as a reminder.
Happy nesting, friends.
Cozy Fall Nesting – A Natural Essential Oil Home Scent Recipe:
5 drops clove essential oil
5 drops orange essential oil
4 drops Christmas Spirit blend (a mix of orange, cinnamon, and spruce)
I add these oils to water in my Aria or Raindrop diffuser, turn it on, and enjoy the warm, inviting aroma.

I also have other natural home scent recipes I enjoy throughout the year. If you’d like to explore more blends or learn about diffusers and oils, I’m happy to share recommendations.
