AAlthough I always adore the cozy, layered feel of fall, I’m often drawn to a brighter, youthful, and fresh aesthetic — especially in summer. The Pacific Northwest lends itself to both seasons, and in this house the two styles blend together effortlessly.
The seasons don’t need to clash in decor; they can complement one another. This home, designed by Bria Hammel Interiors, struck me as a wonderful example of that balance. Her work feels joyful and thoughtfully composed.

Sometimes my thoughts sound clearer in my head than on the page, but this house speaks for itself.
Bria captures a lively and approachable look through a carefully chosen color palette and layered patterns. The result is polished yet playful, warm but modern.

Her portfolio showcases many beautiful rooms, each with thoughtful architectural details and design touches that make the spaces feel special and intentional.

I love the energy in this room. The darker accent — whether black or deep navy — anchors the space and adds a cozy, grounded contrast to the lighter, brighter elements.

The wallpaper here is cheerful and inviting — the kind of pattern that lifts your mood and makes a room feel lively and welcoming.

The Dutch door is charming, and the playful tile message on the floor is a delightful personal touch that makes guests feel instantly welcome. I also love the little cubby just inside the door — practical and pretty.

With my exterior projects mostly wrapped up for the year (the gate remains to be finished), I’m naturally turning my attention back to interiors. I’ll still be enjoying and sharing our outdoor spaces this summer, but I’m also dreaming about refreshing the inside of the house.
In fact, after ordering a new couch recently, I’ve been collecting ideas and planning a bit of rearranging. New upholstery often sparks a flurry of small updates — cushions, rugs, and styling — so I’m embracing the inspiration while I can.
I can’t help myself; I love designing and rearranging. It’s one of those never-ending, joyful projects.
Who’s even a little bit excited for fall?
