Have you ever had a dream house that you just couldn’t get out of your head, one that you instantly connected with? This shingled coastal home in Seabrook on the Washington coast is mine—well, not literally mine, but it feels like the perfect dream house. It was even on the market at one point, so the idea that it could belong to me did cross my mind.
Today I’m taking you on a photo tour of this coastal beauty, which belongs to my friend Susan. She and her husband had it custom built and kindly invited my family to stay for a few days this summer. The house is both a dream and a rich source of design inspiration for anyone planning a coastal or shingle-style home.
You may remember my earlier post about this house when it was still empty. Having stayed here, I can say it exceeded my expectations. The home felt instantly welcoming and comfortable, even though it’s large and brand new. Many of the design choices were familiar to me—Susan used elements she found on my blog and in my homes as part of the inspiration—so the spaces felt especially resonant.

I took a LOT of photos while there; the home offers countless beautiful angles and details. To keep this tour focused, I’m sharing a curated selection that highlights the first floor. If you want to see the upper levels, there’s a part two available at the end of this post. I’ll also share paint colors, flooring, and a few sources so you can recreate the look at home.

The exterior is striking, with a detached guest house and garage to one side and an ocean view to the other. A lovely open-space park sits in front with another handsome home across the way, giving the property a relaxed, seaside neighborhood feel.

Here I am in Susan’s kitchen to show the scale and to underline how at-home the space felt. When Susan designed the house she incorporated familiar elements like the brass faucet and farmhouse sink, which made the aesthetic feel both personal and timeless.
A video tour is also available if you prefer a moving walkthrough of the home.

The entry immediately feels cozy and inviting. Though the home is new and spacious, every room has warmth—soft finishes, thoughtful lighting, and layered textures—that makes it feel lived in and comfortable.

I’ll publish follow-up posts with tips to replicate this look, ideas for custom builds, and remodeling suggestions that add character. For now, enjoy this visual tour of the first floor without too much commentary—just beautiful rooms and thoughtful details.
