Happy news — we’re planning several new projects for our home this year. I’ve delayed major updates in a few key spaces because I wanted to be sure that when we did make changes they would truly reflect our style. Over the years I’ve imagined a lot of possibilities, sometimes patiently waiting and other times impatiently dreaming, and now I finally know the direction I want to take.
I’m excited to share the inspiration and ideas with you. We’ve nearly finished a few small projects in the lower level and will show those soon, along with a refresh of our stairs. There’s a lot to share — backstories, design choices, and plans — so I’ll start with one simple update and build from there.
Recently I posted about this on my Instagram stories. The top photo is the inspiration for our new master bedroom. In short, we plan to move the master from its current spot to the other side of the house — where our son’s room is now — so we can add French doors that open to the side patio.

Do you remember the long saga of installing the side patio? It was quite an ordeal and took a while to recover from all the unexpected hurdles. Now that it’s done, I have new ideas to make that outdoor space feel even more special.
At the moment we access the patio through the Dutch door in the kitchen, but relocating the bedroom will let us add French doors directly off the new master, similar to the inspiration photo. That connection will allow us to step out with morning coffee, dine outside in the evening, or enjoy sunsets over the water without leaving the privacy of our room.
We could, of course, use the patio now, but having it attached to the bedroom will make the experience feel different — more intimate and personal. Our house doesn’t allow for a large master suite, and I don’t need a huge room. My aim is for a small bedroom that feels intentionally cozy and special. Small rooms can be charming when designed with care.

We won’t be building an addition, so we won’t have a peaked roof like the original inspiration, but our nearby round window will help create a similar character and charm. The overall vibe should translate nicely into our home’s existing architecture.
Tomorrow I’ll share lots of inspiration photos for patio doors!
In upcoming posts I’ll explain more about the new bedroom and bathroom plans, plus ideas to enhance the side patio for greater privacy and atmosphere. I’ll also share inspiration for our mint-and-pink bathroom, plans for the original master, and several updates I’m planning to improve the character and functionality of our living room and other spaces.
Thank you for following along with everything we’ve done to make this house our own. It’s exciting to watch the home evolve with more personality and style, and I can’t wait to share the vision for each new update.
