We’ve lived here only two months, and we feel blessed to be home for Christmas. This year will be different: for the first time in over thirty years we won’t have any children staying with us on Christmas. That makes the season feel quieter and a little bittersweet. We had hoped everyone would be here, but travel challenges from a severe cold snap and an expected snowstorm, along with a possible COVID exposure (no one in our household is positive), meant plans had to change. As disappointing as it is, we all agreed it’s the safest choice.
We’ll celebrate together by video call and make the most of a different kind of holiday. Though the season feels heavy for many, we’re grateful for our health and each other. We’re focusing on the true meaning of Christmas and sending our thoughts and prayers to anyone who is facing hardship or loneliness right now.
