IIf you’re a blogger looking to increase traffic and grow your audience, this post is for you. I haven’t written about blogging in a long time, and I admit I’ve been lax in offering blog mentoring—sorry about that. I don’t claim to have all the answers, but I learn from many smart people and want to share what I found especially helpful.

With so many people giving blogging advice these days, how do you know whom to trust? The experts featured in the video I’m highlighting are definitely worth listening to. There’s a lot to learn, and following reliable sources makes a big difference.

I watched a Better Blogging Google hangout that focuses on growing your blog and attracting more visitors, featuring Beckie from Infarrantly Creative and Brooke from All Things Thrifty (and Brooke’s brother). The conversation covers SEO, keywords, and many practical strategies that apply to bloggers at any technical level.

There are so many new and aspiring bloggers now, especially in home and DIY niches, and it can feel overwhelming. This hangout is aimed at newer bloggers but contains plenty of useful tips even for those of us who have been around a while. I learned a lot myself.

I’ve been blogging since 2007, and when I started I knew almost none of this. We’re fortunate now to have experienced mentors and smart bloggers who share insights that help us grow our blogs and businesses.

Early advice I received was to leave thoughtful comments and stay true to myself. That remains solid advice and a great place to begin, though today’s blogging landscape requires more tactics to stand out and attract readers.

Before you watch the video, I want to thank you for being here at The Inspired Room. Whether you’ve followed along for years or are a new reader, I appreciate every one of you. I love blogging and connecting with kindred spirits who enjoy the same things.

If you’re curious, this month the site had over 400,000 unique visitors and over 1.1 million page views. Those numbers still surprise me. I usually try not to fixate on metrics to avoid stress, but I am grateful to every person who reads and visits. It’s amazing to imagine so many people gathered here online.

Please introduce yourself in the comments—de-lurk! I’d love to hear about you. Tell us if you have a blog (what you write about and how long you’ve been blogging) or if you’re a devoted reader who leaves encouraging comments. That kind of support means a great deal to those of us who publish regularly.
