Daily Routines, Cozy Puttering, and a Live Virtual Class

We tend to relax more in summer, but the simple housekeeping habits we keep up at home still support our wellbeing.

A daily home routine can help us feel steady and calm even when life feels unpredictable.

A few small, consistent tasks are a reliable way to lift our spirits. I avoid calling them “chores” because of the negative mindset that can make them feel like a burden. Caring for our home should feel manageable and even pleasant; otherwise we’ll procrastinate until it truly becomes a chore.

When I manage a shiny sink, a freshly made bed, a load of laundry folded and put away, and a quick tidy of one corner of the house, I end the day feeling accomplished and at peace in my home.

One of the pleasures of homemaking for me is puttering — taking unhurried time to tend to small projects. Those four daily routines encourage more puttering, and that often inspires me to create more beauty and order simply because I want to, not because I have to.

Over the next few weeks I’ll be sharing thoughts on puttering, home decorating projects, and how the four simple daily routines can bring unexpected joy to your day.

You can follow along with my daily reminders and ideas for finding more beauty in caring for your home on my Instagram stories.

Tonight (July 20) I’m hosting another virtual Plant Magic class at 5:30 PM PST / 8:30 PM EST with friends from my Dwell Well Collective group.

This session explores the benefits of creating a toxin-free home to care better for yourself, your family, and your pets. I’ll share my experience with Hashimoto’s and autoimmune health, my daughters will offer their perspectives, and we’ll discuss using essential oils to support sleep, immunity, cleaning, digestion, focus, and more. A veterinarian friend will join to address oils and pet safety.

If you missed last week’s class, want to attend again, or would like to invite a friend, email [email protected] for the Zoom link. You’re welcome to listen in without video if you prefer.

We’d love to have you join us.
