Blue & White Kitchen
I love kitchens. They are my favorite rooms to design and the places I most enjoy spending time. A beautiful kitchen inspires me — from countertops and cabinets to faucets and lighting. Small, charming kitchens draw me in just as much as large, elaborate ones.
I’m drawn to the many details a kitchen offers: hardware, sinks, finishes, and flooring. I can study each element for hours. If you invite me to your home and your kitchen is lovely, I’ll likely spend the visit quietly admiring the space rather than engaging in much conversation. Call it a harmless obsession.
I know it sounds funny, but kitchens really do make my heart race. I’m not plotting a move; I’m simply enthusiastic about design. Every kitchen holds ideas and possibilities, and I enjoy imagining how small changes can make a big difference.
Now, about the kitchen featured in House Beautiful this month: that view is breathtaking. Picture washing dishes while looking out at that scene — chores would suddenly feel like a pleasure. The crisp white cabinetry, the rounded counter edges, the warm wood trim framing the window, the rustic floors and the darker wood island all balance beautifully. The dual farmhouse sinks are a charming and practical touch.

The backsplash tile and blue barstools add just the right amount of color and personality. Small accents like these bring an inviting, lived-in feel while keeping the overall palette calm and cohesive.
That said, I’m very happy with my own kitchen. I love spending time there and feel content while working on simple tasks and projects. A well-loved kitchen can become the heart of a home; if I could renovate only one room, the kitchen would be my choice every time.
