Lights from Barn Light Electric
Hey friends! I share little glimpses of life and home on Instagram several times a week, and since not everyone follows me there I wanted to gather some photos and thoughts from last week here. These are simple phone pictures, but I love how they capture small moments that make life feel meaningful.
Taking a quick photo often helps me stay present and grateful for the ordinary blessings around me. Here are some snapshots from our days—things I’m working on, favorite finds, and family moments that brought a smile.

For the first time I bought a full set of dishes. I’ve historically splurged on salad plates but kept plain white dinner plates to save money. When I saw a blue-and-white collection that felt like the perfect fit for our kitchen, I couldn’t resist. We needed new plates and these just felt right—I’m excited to set a fresh spring table with them.

My husband is a musician. We met when I was nineteen and I didn’t think he was my type at first. Then he wrote me a song and played it on his guitar for Valentine’s Day, and the rest is history. Differences between us could have been a challenge, but instead they’ve made our life richer and sweeter over the years.

These eggs are incredible—easily our favorite unless we get ultra-fresh eggs from a local farm. I used them to make our traditional Dutch babies for brunch, and they were especially delicious. The packaging is charming, too.

Life with dogs is always entertaining. Jack keeps us laughing with his antics and goofy expressions.

Diffusing essential oils has become an important part of my daily routine. If you’re curious about how oils can support mood and wellbeing, I’m happy to explain what works for me. They’ve made a noticeable difference in my emotional and physical health this winter. I also share tips and routines on our wellness account and in occasional posts about how I use oils daily.

We have painters coming this week to freshen our window trim, and once that’s finished I’ll take reveal photos of the kitchen and share them. In the meantime I’ll show updates on new flooring downstairs. I’m excited to share these progress photos soon.

I’m so thankful to have two daughters who are not only wonderful young women but also my friends. We have weekly catch-ups—often at a favorite coffee shop—and one daughter works with me full time while the other helps one day a week. I love having them both around and dream of the day we can all work together more.

Leo is growing fast—nearly the size of Lily but a bit stockier. He’s such a sweet pup and will be getting his first haircut soon. Also proud of my daughter’s new sofa and the grown-up furniture choices she’s making as she settles into her own space.

We’re welcoming a new leaf on our fiddle leaf fig—still not a baby, but it’s growing like crazy and bringing good energy to the corner of our living room.

If you’ve wondered what it’s like to have four doodles in the family, it’s a lively mix of joy, laughter, and delightful chaos. Only the white pups live with me full time, but the others visit often. Jack looks especially airborne in this shot with his ears flapping.
Book: Love the Home You Have
I’m wrapping up several projects around the house, and while I enjoy the creativity of remodeling, I feel far less frazzled when projects slow down. Moving from a heavy project phase into a more settled, nesting phase has been a relief. It’s wonderful to put things where they belong, clear out what we don’t need, and simply enjoy the progress so far.
We still have a list of future projects, but taking a pause to appreciate what we’ve completed feels good. It gives me space to breathe and enjoy our home in a calmer way.

As always, the dogs keep us on our toes and make every day a little more fun.
