Happy Monday! After a busy but rewarding weekend filled with church and activities at our new concert house (I started an Instagram, voyageconcerthouse, to share updates), we treated our hardworking family to an afternoon of sun and fresh air. Our dog Jack came along and had the best day.
Warm spring afternoons are rare in the Pacific Northwest, so we made the most of it. After Sunday service we drove up to Poulsbo and spent time on the waterfront before our daughters returned to their homes, school and daily routines. I’m always grateful they come home on weekends to help with church events and to spend a little family time together—especially on those golden sunny days.
My son’s favorite moment was climbing a giant rock—he was thrilled. Seeing kids and dogs outdoors is one of life’s simple joys.
When we took Jack down to the water he enjoyed being there but was also a little terrified. He shuffled down slowly, almost crawling close to the ground—so funny we couldn’t stop laughing. He acted like he was walking a plank! On the way back up, though, he sprinted all the way to the park.
Jack can be a scared-y pup. He’s still young, so many new things make him nervous. He’s a big softie at heart.
I love the way the breeze ruffled his hair. This was one of his first big family outings, and he clearly enjoyed the attention—he’s a true family dog.
Jack was a hit at the park. Lots of people stopped to pet him and say hello. We kept him on a short leash because he kept wanting to bolt and make new dog friends—he’d have loved to be off exploring.
The outing was a great chance for Jack to practice greeting people without jumping and to meet other dogs politely. His manners are improving with each new experience.
There were also plenty of trees to climb. We don’t have big climbing trees in our yard, so both the tree and the rock were big hits with the kids.
On the drive home Jack cuddled up to his sister. He loves being close to family—often with a paw draped over someone or sitting in a lap with his toys. Despite the mischief he sometimes causes at home, he’s a sweetheart.
With Easter and spring break behind us, I’m ready to finish my home office project. I also need to tackle taxes this week—always a last-minute scramble. I’m thankful to run my own business, even if writing tax checks isn’t my favorite task.
I hope you all had a blessed Easter and a restful spring break.
