Home Office Security: Practical Tips to Protect Your Workspace

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Panasonic. The opinions and text are all mine.

Recently someone asked if I still use my home office. Yes—I do. As my business has grown, so has the need for a dedicated workspace, and we use this room daily.

Over the past year I’ve made a few updates to this space and I have more ideas to pursue. I’ll share additional changes on the blog soon, but today I want to highlight an important new feature that has made a real difference.

Although our house is fairly small and we spend most of our time on the main floor, having a lower-level office has been invaluable.

We always have creative projects underway down here, and I love being able to walk upstairs at the end of the day and leave the mess—er, “work”—behind.

One thing I never leave behind is the desire to feel safe. Whether I’m upstairs or traveling across the country, I think about the security of our home.

Last year we installed Panasonic HomeHawk cameras around the exterior of our home, and we’ve been pleased with the system ever since. The cameras provide real peace of mind, so when I was invited to try another HomeHawk product, I was eager to test it.

This time I tried the HomeHawk FLOOR, a stylish interior lamp that doubles as a wireless home monitoring camera. It blends with the decor while offering a reliable 1080p Full HD camera, color night vision and a 140-degree diagonal wide view.

I like the FLOOR lamp more than I expected. It uses Bluetooth technology to connect automatically to Panasonic’s HomeHawk app, so I can view live or recorded footage from my smartphone no matter where I am. That accessibility is incredibly comforting.

Whether I’m home alone, our kids are housesitting, or we’re out of town, I feel better knowing I can check on the house and see that loved ones are safe. Footage can be recorded and reviewed later if anything unusual needs investigating.

The HomeHawk FLOOR’s wide viewing angle covers my entire office and the exterior door, so nothing in the room escapes view—not even our Goldendoodle Jack, who is notorious for sneaking in to grab the little cardboard tubes we save for mailings.

Sorry, Jack—now we always know what you did.

We also use a portable HomeHawk camera called the SHELF, which is currently placed in our dining room. The SHELF is sleek, very portable, and easy to tuck into different spots. It includes a privacy feature that lets you turn it off temporarily when needed.

This portable camera monitors our entry hall and dining room, so it will catch any pet or person who decides to sneak a snack from the table.

Beyond the occasional mischief, what matters most is being able to monitor our home and the people and pets we love from anywhere.

Our home should be a safe place, and this extra layer of security gives me real peace of mind.

If you’re interested in adding HomeHawk cameras to your home, look for the HomeHawk FLOOR and other HomeHawk products to help protect your space and loved ones.
