I’m definitely in my blue phase.
And not just because it’s January and the weather is dark and dreary.
Although I could use some sunshine right about now.
I just really like blue.
Especially blue and white together.
This chair is inspiring — I’m thinking of recovering my old dingy off-white wingback in a similar palette.

What color phase are you in right now?
Many people cycle through color preferences as the seasons change or as their tastes evolve. Right now my attraction to blue feels fresh and calming: it brings a sense of clarity and cool contrast, especially when paired with crisp white. Blue can anchor a room without overwhelming it, and it works across styles — from coastal and cottage to modern and traditional.
If you’re considering a color refresh, here are a few simple ideas inspired by this look:
- Introduce a single bold piece, like a blue upholstered chair or patterned throw, to create a focal point.
- Pair blue with white linens, pillows, or trim to keep the palette bright and airy.
- Mix textures — linen, woven jute, and soft velvet — to add depth while maintaining a cohesive color story.
- Use blue accents in art, ceramics, or glassware to repeat the hue throughout the room without committing to paint.
- Consider reupholstering a dated piece (like a wingback) in a saturated blue for an affordable and high-impact update.
Whether you prefer soft sky tones or deep indigo, a well-chosen blue can shift the mood of a space toward calm, confidence, or cozy sophistication. It’s an easy way to refresh your living area without a major renovation — just a few strategic pieces or a single statement item can make all the difference.
So tell me — what colors are you drawn to lately?
