Yes — we now have a 10-week-old Goldendoodle puppy.
You may have seen on Facebook that we brought home a 10-week-old Goldendoodle. Many people thought it was a bit crazy to get a puppy right now, and they wouldn’t be wrong. That’s just how things happen around here sometimes.
We’re the sort of family that goes for it even when it doesn’t seem like the perfect time. Instead of waiting for everything to settle, we welcome the chaos and embrace the joy a puppy brings.
A few weeks ago, our daughters decided their younger brother — who just turned 11 — needed a dog. I thought about our older dog Winston, who’s 16, and figured we could plan for a puppy next year when things calmed down. We talked about preparing the yard, finishing projects, and then getting a puppy when the timing felt right.
Instead, life kept moving: there have been pallets and construction noise on the deck, paint sprayers and ladders in use, and we’re busy relaunching our church in the new building this fall. There’s a long to-do list and a lot going on, but somehow Jack has become part of the family anyway.
And now we have Jack. We’re completely smitten. He’s already filling the house with energy and affection, and those puppy antics make the chaos feel a little sweeter.
How could you say no to that face?
I rest my case.
