Spring Prep: Fresh Ideas to Refresh Your Home and Wardrobe

Spring Mantel

We’re in that in-between time when I really want it to be spring, but the weather still feels wintry. Yes, it snowed, and yes, it technically is still winter. Still, I like to dream: imagine the snow melting, flowers emerging, birds singing, and the sun warming the air so we can open windows without freezing.

Sound inviting?

I find that getting a few supplies ready helps me jump into spring decorating the moment the urge hits. To get in the mood, here’s a look back at some spring projects I worked on last year—small, repeatable ideas that are perfect for refreshing your home when spring arrives.

Fairy Garden

If you follow along here, you may have seen this already, but I’m still proud of it. Last summer I made a small tabletop fairy garden and became completely hooked. I plan to make many more variations starting this spring. Tiny landscapes are quick, creative, and a great way to bring a bit of springtime charm indoors—expect to see plenty more of them around my house.

Decorating with Spring Eggs

This one is super easy and ideal for Easter. Pick up plastic or decorative eggs from a craft store, gather a few branches from your yard or buy faux branches, and display them in a glass hurricane or vase. It’s a simple arrangement that instantly reads like spring. There are more ideas and variations in the original spring egg post.

Spring Tables

When you’re collecting spring items, think about your tabletop decor too. Small nests, eggs, moss, little bunnies, fresh dishes, and spring flowers all make charming centerpieces. Layer textures and natural elements for an inviting table that feels seasonal without being fussy.

Spring is also a great time to freshen your soft furnishings. Swapping out throw pillows is one of the easiest ways to shift a room’s mood. I admit I’m a pillow enthusiast, so I’ll be adding a few new covers to brighten things up. Small changes—like a new pillow or a light throw—make a big difference.

And of course, don’t forget the mantel (top image). A spring mantel update can set the tone for the whole room—think simple greenery, light accessories, and seasonal touches.

Bonus: if you missed my Facebook updates yesterday, here’s a quick peek at a project I’m working on at home. It’s far from finished, but every project has to start somewhere.
