Tufted Storage Ottoman for Family Room Seating and Style

SI’m deep into fall nesting—cleaning, rearranging and getting the house ready for cooler evenings and cozy nights. What began as a simple cleaning spree turned into a furniture shuffle and ultimately brought home a new teal blue velvet tufted ottoman. It felt like the perfect addition to my family room and an instant upgrade to the space.

It’s funny how that happens: you plan to clean and suddenly you’re shopping for a new piece. I picked this ottoman up at World Market for $199, and the color and feel won me over. My previous coffee table found a new home with my daughter, freeing the spot for this plush, inviting ottoman.

The ottoman is not only pretty, it’s incredibly cozy. In photos it reads a rich teal that shifts a bit depending on light; I think my own pictures show the color more accurately than the retail image. It anchors the seating area and makes the room feel intentionally layered and warm—perfect for fall.

This family room is our cozy spot by the fire. We don’t typically eat here, so the ottoman works well as both a footrest and a casual surface for serving when guests stop by. We do have a separate TV room where we spend a lot of time together, so the family room serves more for quieter gatherings and visiting with friends. Our dogs, Jack and Lily, will still have their sturdy leather ottoman by the window where they love to lounge and watch the yard.

New accessories I added include a woven basket tray and a gold leaf shaped tray from Nate Berkus for Target. These are personal finds and not sponsored.

Anyone else find themselves sidetracked by home projects the way I do?
