Inside Our Sectional: Interior Define Living Room Guide

When we moved from our previous home, we decided to leave our old sectional for the new owners. It was a bittersweet choice—we loved that sofa, but we were downsizing and it wouldn’t have fit well in our new space. We planned to find a smaller piece with a similar fabric and color when the time was right.

You may have seen a glimpse of the sofa in my flooring reveal, but today I’m sharing more photos and details about it.

Last summer we found the perfect sectional with a chaise from Interior Define. It matched my vision exactly. The upholstery is a performance velvet that’s incredibly soft and cozy. The color is a rich charcoal with a subtle blue undertone that sometimes reads with a silvery sheen, which catches the light beautifully and keeps the dark fabric from feeling heavy.

I didn’t stage the dogs in these pictures on purpose—honestly, they insisted on being in every shot. Every time I set up the camera they showed up. They love being where we are, especially Jack, who is very much a people dog. Anyone with pups will recognize that urge to be close to their humans.

Back to the sectional: I adore the piping detail and the slim, slightly sloped arms. This model is the Caitlin from the Everygirl Collection, and it’s also available as a standard sofa. It has a refined yet comfortable appearance, which is exactly the balance I was looking for.

The bench cushion is reversible and filled with high-resilience foam wrapped in down. The back cushions are filled with a soft down blend, so the whole setup invites you to relax and sprawl out—no matter which side you choose. Jack, of course, treats the chaise end like an ottoman and tries to claim it for himself. I find it perfect for stretching out and binge-watching a favorite show.

The back pillows are easy to fluff and adjust for comfort, or you can remove them entirely if you want more space for a nap.

Lol… Jack.

One of the best things about Interior Define is that their pieces are handcrafted and made-to-order, so you have many customization options. If you need a special size, different fill, custom legs, or another fabric, they’re accommodating and provide lots of choices.

Despite the high-quality, made-to-order nature of their furniture, prices can be competitive. Ordering online helps keep costs reasonable compared with some showroom options.

If you’re curious about returns, Interior Define’s policy is generous. You have 14 days to return a piece for a full refund with free shipping, or up to 365 days to return with a modest restocking fee. For decision-making, I recommend requesting their complimentary fabric swatches so you can see and feel options before ordering.

We love having this cozy downstairs spot to gather and relax—and clearly, our pups love it too.
