I have a few morning rituals and gadgets that help me start the day. Beyond making life easier, they share one common theme: they engage the senses.
I always begin by refilling my water bottle. Do you drink water first thing in the morning? It’s so important. I sip water throughout the day. We have both a refrigerator filter and a Berkey, and we use filtered water for health and because it simply tastes better. I often pour from the Berkey since I prefer room-temperature water, though an extra-cold glass can be invigorating.

Next, I fill diffusers with uplifting essential oils. I can’t imagine a day without them. Essential oils influence my mood and emotions in healthy ways and make everyday tasks feel more pleasant.
I keep diffusers in almost every room. My collection of oils and the diffusers I use are ones I recommend for daily use. I also wrote about my health journey and why we chose toxin-free products and rely on oils for many needs.

Then I put on some uplifting music to set a positive tone for the day. I play playlists on Spotify or Amazon Music and let the music flow through the house as I move about my morning routine.
We use a few different music players around the home so songs are easy to stream from room to room.

After my water and a little time puttering around, I make coffee. I grind fresh beans in an electric burr grinder to brew a truly delicious cup. I often use a stovetop espresso maker that’s affordable, simple, and consistently good. I warm and froth oat milk with a handheld foamer so it’s creamy and satisfying. Making coffee has become one of my favorite morning rituals.
I keep a selection of coffee makers and gadgets I love for easy reference.
