Weekend DIY Potting Table and Garden Makeover

Another weekend project outdoors — done! After a few busy weeks I finally completed a potting bench makeover and I couldn’t be happier. Potting benches have always appealed to me: they’re charming, practical, and invite you to spend time with plants.

Potting Table:
A place to trim herbs, pot up new plants,
and find inspiration from the garden.

Over the years I’ve shared ideas for potting tables and potting shelves and always dreamed of having my own. That dream finally became reality when I decided to bring an old table from my previous home back to life as a dedicated potting spot.

This was my starting point: a simple table that had been sitting idle for years, waiting for a purpose. With a little planning and the right accessories it became the perfect spot to organize gardening tasks and enjoy the plants up close.

The scent of fresh herbs fills the air. If only blogs could share smells — that would be the next big thing. For now, I’ll rely on photos and descriptions to convey how refreshing the space feels.

Essential gear for this part of the country? A sturdy pair of rain boots. They’re practical and add a bit of personality to the potting area.

To complete the project in a single weekend I gathered pots, herb and vegetable plants, green trellises, and a few sentimental items — including a chipped Adirondack chair handmade by my uncle for my daughter. The combination of practical supplies and personal touches turned a simple table into a warm, functional potting station that I expect will grow into a lovely kitchen garden over time.

How is your garden growing this year? Do you have a small area dedicated for potting and pot containers?

This makeover was supported by a selection of pots, plants, trellises, and cushions provided by Lowe’s, which helped bring the vision to life. The result is a cozy, functional outdoor nook where I can tend herbs, start seedlings, and enjoy quiet moments surrounded by greenery.
