Hello, blog friends tucked away in my computer! How are you doing? I’ve been incredibly busy lately — nothing out of the ordinary for me — but I’m making great progress on a few projects, which feels rewarding even when I’m exhausted. I’m that sort of tired-happy person who should probably nap but is too excited to stop. That’s why I shared that quote on Friday. I do tend to take on too much and need to remind myself I can’t do everything at once.
While out shopping this weekend for items for my office (which is coming along nicely — expect more updates soon), I found a new little basket that made my day.
I love hanging interesting pieces on my walls, so I was delighted to find this chicken wire and twig basket at TJ Maxx. It felt charming and unexpected — the kind of small detail that brings personality to a space.
I originally planned to add it to the grouping of baskets by my front door, but once I brought it home I realized it read better on its own on the stair wall. It may move again someday, but for now it hangs there, and I like how it stands out against the wall.
There’s something slightly beachy about it, or maybe it reminds me of a little fishing basket — at least how I imagine one would look. I’ve never actually fished, and the idea of watching a flopping fish is not appealing to me, but the basket still evokes that coastal, weathered feel that works well in casual, layered decor.
This little find fits the kind of simple, rustic pieces I enjoy: functional, textured, and a little whimsical. It’s the sort of accent that doesn’t try too hard but still makes the space feel edited and personal.
How was your weekend? Did you discover anything fun or work on a project you enjoyed?
