Cozy Beach House Decor: How to Nail the Comfortable Coastal Look

Country Living

I know it’s summer, but I’m a year-round fan of beach houses. Do you feel the same? I love spending time in seaside homes during storms and sunshine, on weekdays and holidays, on long vacations or short getaways.

That’s why I bring beach-house touches into my own home. Those relaxed, coastal details create the easygoing, vacation-like atmosphere I enjoy every day.

I don’t think of “beach house” as a strict design category so much as a mood: comfortable, casual, and calming. For me it’s less about matching a style guide and more about capturing the tranquil feeling of being near the water.

My daughters and I just returned late last night from a trip to Utah. We weren’t near the coast during our travels, and I really missed the smell of the sea. Coming home put me in the mood to share some beach-house inspiration.

I also missed YOU while we were away — are you still here?

I didn’t have time to post while traveling, so I’m glad to be back. Even with all the social platforms available today, this blog community remains my favorite place to connect and talk about our shared love of creating a home.

Have you visited any charming beach houses this summer? Which coastal towns are your favorites?
