I hung a new kitchen cafe curtain last week and I love how it brightens the space. This is our first summer in the house after our renovation, so I’m finally swapping in seasonal accessories I imagined last year while the kitchen was being rebuilt.
The curtain is light and airy; its ticking stripe and fresh color palette feel perfect for summer.

How I Hung My Kitchen Cafe Curtain Rod
Hanging a cafe curtain is quick and simple with a tension rod. If your window opening isn’t overly wide and the fabric is lightweight, a tension rod provides a tool-free, damage-free solution.
You don’t need tools or permanent hardware unless you prefer a more secure, fixed installation attached to woodwork or cabinetry.

I used small ring clips with my tension rod. Ring clips let the panel slide easily from side to side and make opening and closing the curtain effortless. They also allow you to hang unconventional fabric—like a large tea towel—if you want a casual look. If you prefer, you can skip rings and thread the rod through a curtain pocket.
To refresh the look, simply attach a new fabric panel to the ring clips and you have an instant seasonal update.

Several people on social media have asked for our kitchen, dining room, and island dimensions. Would you like a detailed layout and measurements? I can share that if there’s interest.

Our English-inspired coastal kitchen came together just as planned. Every inch is designed to be both functional and pretty. I especially love the little stool nook — it’s a practical spot and adds charm. My husband sits there every day.

My next summer home project
While major renovations are satisfying, it’s the small, homey updates that I enjoy most. I have a new project planned for this month that will make a noticeable impact. It’s a slightly bigger investment than a curtain but much less involved than a renovation, and it’s something we’ll enjoy all summer and for years to come.
I’ll also share an update on our backyard progress soon, so you haven’t missed that.

Seasonal Home Rhythms
This summer, in our HomeBody Gathering Place community, we’ve been discussing seasonal home rhythms. I find embracing rhythms rather than strict rules to be freeing and sustainable for caring for a home. It has been one of the most helpful approaches for me, and I love teaching others how small, consistent rhythms can transform daily routines and home care.
If you enjoy cozy home projects and seasonal changes, the idea of seasonal rhythms might resonate with you.
