Happy Monday! The exciting news is that the Better Homes & Gardens issue featuring my kitchen is finally out. I haven’t spotted it on a newsstand yet, but several readers have emailed to say they’ve received their copies in the mail—so check your mailbox or your local store!
The editor kindly sent a few copies, so I did get to see the magazine in person. It was a thrill to hold the finished issue and flip through those pages.
Have you tried the digital edition on an iPad or phone? It includes extra content—additional photos and interviews. There’s even an audio link with a short interview where I talk about the kitchen. I felt a little awkward listening to myself, but it’s a neat way to enjoy the feature and see some bonus images.

Here I am in Better Homes & Gardens, standing in my kitchen and making a salad. I appreciated how BHG focused on capturing a realistic moment of everyday life. The photographer and I talked at length about what we actually make in our kitchen, and salads are a regular occurrence—so that’s what we staged. It wasn’t entirely natural to stand and smile with a salad for the camera, and I definitely prefer staying behind the screen rather than in the spotlight, but the shoot was a lot of fun.
I’m grateful for the opportunity and for the thoughtful approach the magazine took in representing our home. The experience was memorable, and it was fun to work with a team that wanted authentic, lived-in images.
Thank you to everyone who sent kind messages and shared my excitement. If you missed my recent Better Homes & Gardens Style Spotters post about projects from The Inspired Room, you can find it in the magazine’s Style Spotters feature.
