Entertaining with Wine: Simple Tips and $300 Giveaway

This post and $300 Amazon gift card giveaway sponsored by Weekly Tasting

A couple of years ago I offered to host a girls’ night at my house. Everyone wanted a night out without the kids, and since we no longer have small children (we now have puppies), I was happy to host. As the plans came together, the shopping list grew: chocolate fountain, coffee bar, wine tasting, and chick flicks — the makings of a perfect girls’ night. Almost perfect.

The part that worried me wasn’t cleaning the house, setting up the coffee station, or renting the fountain. It was the wine. We keep a wine rack in the kitchen and I often choose bottles by how they look, not by the label. I only order wine for special occasions or when dining out. I enjoy winery visits for the atmosphere, but I rarely feel confident choosing, buying, or serving wine. I didn’t want to spend money on something I might not like or risk offering the wrong bottle.

Then I discovered Weekly Tasting. At first I assumed it wasn’t for me, but then I realized I could learn about wine from my own home — gain confidence, avoid future awkward moments, and maybe even have fun doing it.

How Weekly Tasting works

Sommeliers curate four wines around a weekly theme. You receive an email with the theme and, if it appeals to you, you can order the box for $69.99 with free shipping. The box includes four bottles, tasting cards, recipe pairings, and a short tasting video hosted by a sommelier.

Weekly Tasting’s sommeliers are respected in the wine world. Laura Maniec is one of only a few female Master Sommeliers, and Elizabeth Schneider brings over a decade of experience and hosts the Wine for Normal People podcast.

By watching the tasting video and sampling the wines, you learn to recognize regions, varietals, and the characteristics that define each bottle. The experience helps you refine your personal preferences and builds confidence for future purchases. Weekly Tasting also provides a label-recognition app and a personal cellar feature where you can save favorite bottles, compare notes with friends, and track what you enjoy.

I plan to use Weekly Tasting for girls’ nights, date nights, and book club gatherings — it makes learning about wine social and approachable.
