Each January I focus on small updates in our bedroom. This year my motto is “a place for everything and everything in its place,” so I turned my attention to both beautifying and organizing the room. When I spotted a rattan trunk at Wayfair, I knew it would solve a persistent storage problem in our bedroom while adding warmth and texture.
Below I’ll share how this basket-style trunk helped us reclaim space and keep blankets and linens neat and accessible.

Our bedroom is modest in size and storage, so I looked for smart ways to keep everyday items nearby without crowding the closet. One recurring issue was a growing pile of extra blankets that took up valuable space.
Blankets are bulky and can be awkward to store without a dedicated linen closet. If you don’t have much built-in storage, finding a solution that’s both attractive and functional is key.
I didn’t want blankets crowding the closet anymore, so the lined rattan trunk was the perfect find. The removable liner makes it ideal for storing blankets, extra sheets, mattress pads or spare pillows. It’s versatile enough to hold books, hobby supplies or seasonal decor as well.
A lidded trunk keeps the room looking tidy while still providing easy access to what’s inside. This trunk’s proportions are perfect for placing at the foot of the bed, tucking into a corner, or positioning against a wall. It’s tall enough to hold plenty but compact enough to avoid taking up excessive floor space.
The rattan features a pleasing mix of warm browns and soft grays with rope accents, and the handles make it easy to move when needed. Beyond its practicality, the trunk adds texture and personality to the space.

and much more.
