Botanical Art / Runner / Lights / Door: Ozark Shadows BM / Walls: Swan White Glidden
Hope you enjoyed the “spring forward” weekend! I’ve been juggling a busy stretch—deadlines, travel, and work all converging—so this week was mostly about catching up. That’s the reality of running your own business: you can step away, but things keep moving. I’m powering through and trying to find the joy in the busy season because, truthfully, I love what I do even when it’s hectic.
Do any of you run your own businesses or blog? I’d love to hear what you do in the comments.
Many of you liked our earlier roundup of family snapshots from Instagram, so I’m planning to make a semi-regular Sunday update sharing photos and informal home and family moments. I won’t promise a strict schedule—after a decade of blogging I’ve learned to keep things flexible—but I do want to keep you in the loop. I prefer posting here where the conversation feels more personal. You’re my favorite audience.
I ordered new framed botanical art for our entry hall and I love how it brings a touch of green and completes the space. You can see it in the top photo; I’ll share more photos soon.
Mug Rack / Kitchen Details
Jack is thrilled about the new kitchen. He felt excluded while the contractors were here, so now he’s determined to be part of the action. He’s a funny dog—if you follow him, you can catch his adventures on his Facebook page.

This weekend my girls and I worked on a project to celebrate the launch of my new book, Simple Decorating. Amazon has already listed it, and we’ll have an official launch closer to April 1st. It’s been fun planning little projects together around the house in anticipation.

On Fridays both of my girls come over to work, and all four doodles were at our house. They had a blast running through the yard—doodle heaven—but our soggy weather left them muddy, so each dog needed a foot bath before coming inside.
Rattan Daybed / It Is Well Sign / Cable Knit Rug / Leather Couch
It was lively around here, but the dogs clearly loved their time together.
Wall sconce
I shared a short video on Instagram of my wood-and-glass diffuser that also plays music. It’s one of my favorite little luxuries—it makes the house feel like a spa. I’ve written about the products I use and why I recommend them if you’re curious.

This spot is Lily’s favorite place to nap every day. I can’t blame her—if I could lounge there all day, I would too.

We found the cutest measuring cup at Anthropologie downtown last week and each of my girls picked one up. It’s now on my wish list. Also: Anthropologie is carrying Rifle Paper Company oven mitts and aprons—such a fun find.

The sky and the landscapes outside our window change constantly, painting new scenes every evening. It’s a simple reminder to pause and appreciate the beauty right in front of us.

We’re putting together a peek at our side patio outside the kitchen Dutch door. It’s a work in progress, but I’ve got a small post coming this Friday showing the Dutch door and white brick from the outside. Even unfinished, I think it’s shaping up to be quite charming.
Once the weather steadies, I expect to be out there each morning with coffee and planted pots. Has spring arrived where you are yet?

Leo—Kylee’s pup and Bella’s “brother”—is getting bigger and fluffier. He hasn’t had his first puppy haircut yet but he’s adorable as ever.
Striped Bench
Jack has already claimed our new dining bench as his own. Honestly, he makes himself at home everywhere around here.
My goal this week is to share more kitchen details and answer the great questions you’ve asked. Talk to you soon!
