Summer Bedroom Refresh: Simple Upgrades for a Breezy Look

Summertime in the Pacific Northwest is especially lovely when the sun comes out. Lately we’ve been enjoying a string of beautiful, sunny days, and it’s hard not to feel inspired to refresh the home when the light is this good.

Our house benefits from large windows at the rear that let in abundant natural light throughout the year. That steady sunlight influences how we layer color, texture and furnishings — it shapes how a room feels from morning to evening.

As we approach our second summer in this home, the bright days have me excited to make a few changes in the living room. Small updates feel particularly satisfying right now: swapping a throw, moving furniture slightly, or introducing a lighter accent can brighten the space and make it feel new without a major overhaul.

I’ve been sharing glimpses of the process in my Instagram stories this week, showing some of the cheerful chaos that comes with making changes. If you missed those, I’ll be posting a full update on the blog soon with photos and details about each change.

Does sunny weather make you want to change your decor?
