Navy Sectional FAQ: Media Room Seating & Care Guide

Media Room Navy Sectional - The Inspired Room

From time to time I like to share some of my FAQ from readers on the blog.

Today I want to answer a frequently asked question about the room we call our media room. I haven’t written much about this space, so readers often ask about the navy sectional and how it has held up. A few years ago we converted an upstairs bedroom into a media room and moved our TV there from the family room. The room is cozy but not large, so to make it comfortable for a crowd during movies or games we purchased a La-Z-Boy Collins sectional.

After more than two years and with several dogs in the house, we still love the sectional. It’s comfortable, soft, and surprisingly durable. The concerns I had when choosing it—pets, a teenage son, and everyday spills—haven’t proven to be problems. The fabric has worn well and the cushions remain supportive.

We use the media room all the time. Someday we’d like to replace the carpet with hardwood floors, but that’s a future project. There’s a practical challenge: how do you install new hardwood in a small room when a giant sectional is in the way? For now it’s a plan for another season. My husband also uses the room as a home office during the week for his work with our church, so the space has to balance comfort and function. We’ve been making some small updates recently; I’ll share photos once I have time to take them.

On a related note, I recently ordered a leather loveseat in toffee for the family room downstairs. It was on sale, so I got 25% off and it’s scheduled for delivery today. I chose leather for the downstairs sofa for practical reasons I discussed previously, and I’ll report back with impressions once it’s delivered and we have a chance to live with it.
