Mood Board: Home Office
I’ve been thinking about my house more than usual lately—caught in a contemplative mood as I try to clarify the look and feel I want for our home.
For a long time I felt uncertain about style, color and overall vibe. I’ll browse images online, then stare around my own rooms and keep pondering. Inspiration is important to me, but I don’t simply copy trends because something looks pretty in a photo. What matters most is how a space actually feels in my home.
That doesn’t mean I ignore current styles entirely. I enjoy incorporating trends here and there, but I also have a tendency to resist following the crowd. I prefer to explore and experiment until the result feels uniquely mine, even if that makes the process slower and occasionally awkward.
The challenge of trying something a little different is part of my creative process. I want rooms that feel like they belong to me, not replicas of what everyone else is doing. That can be difficult, but the outcome is worth it.
I’ve decided to let our house evolve gradually. It goes through awkward phases and there are mistakes along the way, but allowing the space to develop over time usually leads to more satisfying results. I’m learning to be patient and listen to what the rooms seem to want.
My house, in its own way, is asking for contrast and vitality.
I need time to understand that request and translate it into a cohesive design.
Yes, it sounds a little odd—no, I don’t literally hear voices—just a way of describing how I respond to the feel of a space.
Right now the house is nudging me toward bold contrasts: light against dark, color paired with neutral, and a mix of textures and styles. I’m aiming for dynamic combinations that feel fresh and layered rather than predictable.
There’s a long road ahead before everything comes together, but I finally have a clearer vision. Expect some creative chaos as I work through it—and I’ll share updates as the transformation progresses.
At the moment, I’m focused on my office mood board.
Take a look above. The finished room may not match the board exactly, but a mood board is a useful starting point to capture a vibe. Right now I’m leaning toward navy walls for a dramatic backdrop. I know that sounds bold, but I’m excited to see where it leads. The whole makeover could be delightful or a little terrifying—maybe both—but that’s part of the fun.
UPDATE: Come see how my HOME OFFICE finally came together!

PS. Fun news: I started a new and unexpected role last week—I’m now a pinner for Better Homes & Gardens magazine. It’s an exciting milestone for me. A few years ago I wouldn’t have imagined running a blog or curating boards, and it feels like a real treat to contribute to a publication I’ve always admired.
I’m pinning to a couple of BHG boards and also maintaining my own Pinterest collections, so if you follow my boards you can see what inspires me as I continue experimenting with the house. I’m still learning the ropes as a pinner, but I’m enjoying the process.
Wishing you a happy day, everyone!
