Getting Up to Speed: What’s New Lately

HHello, friends! Thank you for your patience while I’ve been juggling a few extra projects and haven’t kept up with posts as much as I’d like. I love staying busy, but things have been a little crazier than usual lately. If you missed my post yesterday about creating continuity in your home decor, you can find it on my site.

Here’s a quick update on what I’ve been working on.

I have a new book manuscript due in just a couple of weeks — I’m excited about it and can’t wait to share more soon. At the same time I’m preparing the launch for another book, Simple Organizing, which comes out next week. Writing a new book while releasing another has been a challenge, but a good one!

We also have several projects underway around the house, and I hope to share a spring update with photos soon.

Outdoor improvements are on the agenda this season. I’m looking forward to spring and plan to share more outdoor projects over the coming months. We have something brand new planned for the backyard that will be finished soon, and we’re excited to show it off.

We’re finally getting a new gate for the side yard. That project has been in the works forever — literally two years in the making. If you want some background, I’ve written about gate inspiration before.

For a little humor, here’s the view our neighbors have had for the past year. Is it a clever gate design or a makeshift dog barricade? Either way, it’s been entertaining for all of us.

On the interior, we finally removed the blue fitted sheet that had been covering my son’s window. We installed new shutters and they look fantastic — I’m eager to take photos and share them, along with my bedroom makeover. My new bed arrived and I love it.

This year we’re launching a few of our own home products. The first release will be two rugs created with Dash & Albert / Annie Selke. We received a sample of the striped rug with the Swiss cross trim and are very pleased with how it turned out (excuse the rolled edge — I was too excited to wait for it to lie flat).

That opportunity came because of your votes during the rug contest, so I’m incredibly grateful. I have admired Dash & Albert rugs for years, and this collaboration is a dream come true.

Above was our Photoshop mockup for the competition — I think it’s pretty close to the real thing.

Both rugs will be available for purchase soon — I’ll share details as they become available.

I hope you’re having a great week. My family is coming for Easter, so I’m busy with spring cleaning and preparing to photograph the master bedroom makeover this week. I can’t wait to show you how it turned out.
