I have to admit I struggled deciding what to write for the very first post in my 31 Days of Autumn Bliss series.

How do you invite people into a season so full of warmth and possibility? What will make you want to relax here, feel at home, and return day after day for inspiration?

Why dedicate thirty-one posts to Autumn? It felt like a lot of pressure to find the right words.

We live in many different places. Some of you are sweltering in summer heat, some have never experienced a true Autumn. And yet Autumn can still be meaningful no matter where you live.

Why Autumn inspires me

If you read this blog, you probably already know my answer. Autumn, to me, is less about weather and falling leaves and more about a way of living. It’s not merely a lead-in to winter or a season of pumpkin-decorated mantels. It’s an attitude.

Autumn is a season of contentment

I see Autumn as a time to embrace the homemaking life I longed for. That doesn’t mean my life or home is perfect. It doesn’t require waiting for the right house, the right budget, or more free time. Gratitude and contentment are choices we can make now.

Autumn invites us to create peace and satisfaction in the present. In the busyness of life it’s easy to postpone joy—telling ourselves we’ll savor things later, when circumstances improve. But the season encourages us to slow down and appreciate what we already have.

Autumn is a time to slow down and embrace the home and life we have.

Do we need golden leaves or crisp temperatures to feel content? Not at all.

Choosing to welcome Autumn is intentional.

For the next thirty days we’ll do more than daydream about Fall—we’ll nest.

Over this series we’ll explore how to welcome Autumn in every room, share practical and beautiful ideas, and celebrate simple homemaking rituals. I’ll show some of my favorite seasonal touches from my own home, and we’ll enjoy small celebrations like Autumn treats and scenic drives. Some posts will be brief, others more detailed, but all will offer inspiration for making this season feel special.

I’m excited to get started. Tomorrow I’ll share inspiring entryways to help you welcome the season in style.

Are you with me? 31 Days of Autumn Bliss!

PS. I added a new fall banner on my blog this week—crafted by a friend who updated my original design. If you’re following in a reader, hop over to see it on the site.
