Lights from Barn Light Electric
Hey friends! I recently thought about all the little moments I share on Instagram each week. Our family enjoys posting a few accounts just for fun, but I know many of you don’t follow Instagram, and you are my favorite readers. So I wanted to collect some photos from last week and share them here.
These are simple phone pictures — little glimpses of everyday life and projects I’m working on. Snapping a photo helps me stay present and grateful for the ordinary blessings around me.

For the first time I ordered a full set of dishes. I usually stick with white dinner plates and occasional pretty salad plates, so buying a matched set felt indulgent. When I saw these blue and white dishes I fell in love — they were exactly what we needed and I can’t wait to set a fresh spring table with them.

My husband is a musician. We met when I was nineteen; at first I didn’t think he was my type, but then he wrote and played a song for me on Valentine’s Day. That started our life together. It’s been many years since then, and the differences between us have only made life richer and sweeter.

We discovered eggs that we love — they consistently make dishes like our traditional Dutch Babies taste even better. The packaging is charming, too, and they’ve become a kitchen favorite.

Life with dogs is never dull. Jack keeps us laughing with his silly personality and endless energy.

Diffusing essential oils has become part of my daily routine. If you’re curious about essential oils and how I use them for emotional and physical well-being, I’m happy to explain. They’ve helped me feel healthier through the winter, and I keep a simple wellness station that makes it easy to use them each day.

We have painters arriving this week to refresh our window trim. Once that’s complete I’ll photograph the reveal and give you a proper tour of the kitchen. In the meantime I’ll be sharing updates on the new flooring downstairs and a few other small changes. I’m excited to show how things are coming together.

I’m so grateful to have two daughters who are not only wonderful people but also my closest friends. We meet weekly to catch up, often over coffee. One daughter works with me full time and the other joins us a day each week. I love having them around and hope one day both will work together full time.

Leo is growing fast — roughly the same size as Lily now, a bit stockier. He still has his puppy coat for the moment, and he’s such a gentle, happy pup. My daughter Kylee recently bought her first adult sofa and it’s so charming; it’s been fun to see her furnishing her home.

We’re also welcoming a new leaf on our fiddle leaf fig — it’s growing quickly and bringing more life into the room.

If you’ve wondered what it’s like to have four doodles in the family, it’s equal parts joy, laughter and delightful chaos. The dogs love to hang out together and keep us smiling every day.
Book: Love the Home You Have
I’m happily wrapping up several house projects. While the energy of projects can be fun, I feel calmer as we move from remodeling into a nesting phase. It’s a relief to put things away, clear out what we don’t need, and enjoy the spaces we’ve worked on. There are still projects on the list, but it’s nice to pause and appreciate what we’ve accomplished.

Like I said, dogs keep us on our toes and fill our days with laughter.
