Reversible Throw Blankets for Sofas, Beds, and Chairs

One of my favorite ways to welcome fall is by layering textures around the home. I was searching for stylish, reversible blankets to drape over sofas, chairs and beds — pieces that add pattern, color and warmth without overwhelming a room. I found exactly that in these mudcloth-style blankets. They’re soft, cozy and perfect for casually tossing over furniture as a finishing touch.

Beyond being attractive, they were surprisingly affordable, so I bought several to use around the house.

TIP: When I purchased these, they were about $36 each. Prices can change or items can sell out, so if you see a style you love it’s a good idea to grab it while it’s available.

Stylish, washable and reversible blankets

One of the best features is that these blankets are washable. With dogs who love beach walks, our home needs to be easy to clean. These washable layers protect upholstery and give us a little more time between heavier cleanings or slipcover washes.

I later added a floral reversible blanket — blue with a patterned side and white with blue pattern on the reverse. It’s delicate and fresh, and works beautifully layered with neutrals.

Lightweight layers are versatile and easy to store

Adding fall layers doesn’t mean you must bring in heavy blankets or bulky decor, especially when the weather is still mild. Lightweight throws are ideal year-round: they’re easy to drape, simple to store and take up little space when not in use. That makes them especially practical for smaller homes or spaces with limited storage.

The soft colors and patterns on these blankets blend well with many styles, so they feel appropriate in every season.

I even tucked the blue and white blanket around the cushion of our built-in bench as a temporary seat cover. It’s an easy, inexpensive way to refresh a spot and test a new look before committing to anything permanent.

I’m excited to use these blankets around the house this season and will share more styling ideas as I try them in different rooms.
