Who’s excited to start decorating a fall porch? I know it’s still summer, but if you want a seasonal doormat you should order soon—popular styles sell out fast. Consider this your friendly reminder to start planning now. I love summer here in the Northwest and don’t want it to end quickly, but I also look forward to FALL and my annual FALL NESTING SERIES. Thirteen years of blogging later, and I’m just as thrilled about this series as when I began.
When I first started blogging, it felt like I was the only one who adored fall. Kicking off a fall series in September used to make people say it was too early. Now, many people start talking about fall in August—how times have changed!
Even so, I believe in savoring the season you’re in rather than rushing to the next one. My approach has always been to let the seasons in my home evolve slowly, mirroring the natural shifts outside. There’s a special gift in that unhurried transition, and we lose it if we hurry through the months.
You won’t find me doing frantic, overnight seasonal overhauls. Instead, my home welcomes fall gently: layer by layer, through texture, natural elements, and subtle changes to daily routines. Those slow, cozy fall vibes arrive gradually and feel more meaningful because they unfold in time.
I’m so excited to share another fall season with you.

I’m writing a new book that celebrates life and home through the seasons—this subject is one of my favorites. Thank you for following The Inspired Room through every season.
I’m still savoring summer, but I’ve already got my eye on a fall doormat because autumn will be here before we know it.
PS. My posts about the Seabrook Dream House begin this week, so stay tuned for that series.
